LAS VEGAS — Nevada State men's track & field delivered a strong performance against a deep field at the UNLV Rebel Elite meet, highlighted by several top finishes and scoring efforts across multiple events.
The Scorpions placed ninth out of fifteen as a team, competing against NCAA Division I programs and earning 39 points on the weekend.
Freshman Kendry Mendia led the way with a standout victory in the 400-meter hurdles, posting a top time of 51.21 to claim first place. Mendia also added points in the 200 meters with a fifth-place finish.
On the track, Ahmaree Lott contributed with a scoring finish in the 800 meters, placing eighth, while Rufus Dismuke turned in a solid sprint performance in the 100 meters.
In the distance events, Diego Avelar earned a top-five finish in the 1500 meters, continuing a strong showing for the Scorpions in middle-distance competition.
Nevada State also saw contributions in the field events from Gabriel Gough in the shot put, helping round out a balanced team performance.
